The hCG Diet Protocol for rapid fat loss is simply a hormone-directed, very low calorie diet (VLCD) that, if followed correctly, can result in rapid fat loss, particularly “abnormal fat”, which is typically stored on the stomach, buttocks, thighs, etc–and is the hardest to shift with normal diet and exercise.
hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is a complex protein hormone that is produced by pregnant women. Its normal function is to direct the mother to use her own stored fat to nourish a developing fetus. The hCG Diet Protocol was originally developed by Dr A.W.T. Simeons, as far back as the 1950s/60s–who observed in treatment of thousands of obese patients, that when administered to overweight men and women low dosages of hCG cause the reduction of abnormal fat – when food calories are restricted to no more than 500 calories per day.
As he states in his original manuscript Dr Simeons Pounds and Inches A New Approach to Obesity–this would be an unhealthy starvation diet without the action of hCG directing your body to derive the deficit in calories from stored fat. You would also be extremely hungry, which is not the case when hCG is present, at the right dosage.
The diet consists of 4 components in each of two daily meals:
1) a set portion of non-fat protein;
2) a vegetable;
3) a fruit;
4) a serving of complex carbohydrate, in the form of a grissini stick or melba toast.
The program also encourages the intake of plenty of water (including mineral water) and allows unlimited amounts of black coffee and tea. One (1) tablespoon of milk is also allowed each day. Stevia is the only approved sweetener. There are also a number of key supplements that can enhance results, which are supplied as part of your program.
Because it is a hormone that “trains” specific brain receptors, hCG should be used for a minimum of 3 week or a maximum of 6 weeks. Typical weight loss during the 3 week program is 5-7kg, with males often losing more–however, for females, as the “Pounds and Inches” name infers, often there is significant reduction in measurements over and above the number showing on the scale, most often from the hard to lose areas such as the stomach, buttocks and thighs, etc.
As the body can build up immunity to the fat loss from hCG, a further hCG cycle can be commenced after a minimum 6-week layoff period. Fat reduction via hCG shapes your body by burning abnormal fat. You will not go below a healthy weight level or become too “skinny” – you will simply look the way you are supposed to look when you are not carrying excess abnormal fat.
